Media Arts Unit Plan Bundle for Year 3/4 - Tell Me A Tale

I have just uploaded my latest Media Arts Unit Plan for Year 3 and 4 to my TPT store. It is aligned it to Australian Curriculum Version 9. I have included the links and resources needed for teaching the unit. Also included an assessment/marking rubric for your bump it up wall, as well as a sample student modelled response at a c standard.

What is this unit about?:

Students will view and respond to a series of 1 minute interstitial animated narratives from the Series Tell Me A Tale

Tell Me A Tale explores wellbeing and emotional intelligence using the voices of real, Aussie kids, with animation based on their very own drawings. These episodes are currently available for viewing in Australia free on abc iview. https://iview.abc.net.au/show/tell-me-a-tale. Episodes are also available on YouTube.

Students will learn how to take still close up photos using a digital device such as an ipad. Students will create a visual sequence based on this story and create a digital retell of the story using still images and audio recording of their own speaking. Students will then create their own narrative based on this structure to match an emotional intelligences word from the word wall. Students will then create a digital story from their own narrative.

This unit can be taught in conjunction with the Year 1/2 unit. This would suit multi-age classrooms. This unit is also perfect for homeschool families, because it is engaging and the success criteria is explicit, so students know how they can succeed.

I have included an Assessment Rubric for your 5 stars aligned to the Media Arts strands, in student friendly language.

I have unpacked the Australian Curriculum Version 9, and identified the achievement standards, content descriptions and unit specific elaborations. I have also identified the General Capabilities and Cross Curriculum Priorities in the unit.

A 10 week lesson overview is included, along with detailed 1 page per lesson plans. These lesson plans include learning intentions and success criteria, suggested activities and resource suggestions.

Worksheets for lessons included:

Exploring and Responding - Question and answer sheet

Camera Shots Worksheet

Sharing Storyboard Sequence Sheet

Cooperate Storyboard Sequence Sheet

Kind Video - Student Modelled Response and drawings sheet

Emotional Intelligences Word Wall

Check it out at my TPT Store :)
